Values  in Google Classroom

Values

A traditional definition of "values" is beliefs that are important to a person; values are "standards by which people order their lives and make their choices." Look back over pages 3-25. Some of the Walls family values are stated explicitly; others can be inferred by their actions. As you look back over the pages, identify a "value," whether stated explicitly or implicitly and write it down. Then provide the page #  of where you found the value.

For example:
Neglect/Independence: Jeannette cooking hot dogs (3) & the doctors and nurses asking Jeannette questions (10)

"Claiming an Education" Assignment for the weekend in Google Classroom

"Claiming an Education" Assignment for the weekend

Read and annotate the article, paying particular attention to the following:
Highlight and label contrasts that you find throughout the essay;
 Pay attention to syntax: find a good example of parallel structure and anaphora and label them as such;
Mark and label where you think there is a major shift in the essay, where you think it changes focus or direction.
Lastly, create a Google Slides presentation where you:
State the purpose of the article in one sentence on one slide;
Create 4 more slides, where you copy 4 quotes (1 per slide) that you find meaningful. Boys, I am aware that this speech is intended for a female audience, but you can substitute the idea of female student, with just "student." :)
You will have a total of 5 slides and a fantastic time in creating it.

"Superman and Me" Rhetorical Analysis Body Paragraph in Google Classroom

"Superman and Me" Rhetorical Analysis Body Paragraph

Write 1 body paragraph for a rhetorical analysis essay. You should read through the handout below to explain how a rhetorical essay is written and how a body paragraph is set up. Use this topic sentence to begin your paragraph. Your entire paragraph will work to prove this topic sentence. You're not just finding evidence (quotes) and plopping them in. You are analyzing that evidence. Again, read the handout.

Topic sentence: Using
engaging syntax and extended metaphor, Alexie explains the reason he came to
love reading and its influence in how he views the world.

Double space. Titles of essays are in quotation marks.
