Opening (I Do)

An engaging process for lesson introduction that is specifically planned to encourage equitable and purposeful student participation. Describe the instructional process that will be used to introduce the lesson.

TKES 1, 2, 3,4,5, 8,10

Standards:

MGSE9-12.F.BF.4

MGSE9-12.F.BF.4d

 MGSE9-12.F.TF.7

 Learning Target:

I can solve a Trigonometric Equation

Success Criteria:

I can solve a one-step equation.

I can isolate the variable in an equation.

I can combine like terms.

I can factor.

I can substitute one trig function for another.

Introduction/Connection:

Do now  -SAT/ACT Practice- students will answer multiple choice questions written in the SAT or ACT style – posted in Google Classroom

Connection – solving algebraic equations

DIRECT INSTRUCTION:

I will demonstrate how to solve trig equations by using the calculator.  We will then apply what we have learned about solving equations that have exact answer to solving equations with non-exact answers.

Work Period  (We Do, You Do)

Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations.  Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period.

TKES 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7. 8,10

GUIDED PRACTICE:

We will complete practice problems together.  Students will answer procedural questions concerning each problem.

INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION:

Students will independently practice by completing problems 1-10 on the non-exact equations worksheet

Closing  (We Check)

Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding.

TKES : 1,2,3, 4,5,6,7,8

SUMMARIZE/CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING:

We will check several of the problems to verify understanding.
