Learning Targets
Using ASL, I can describe the characteristics and preferences of a fictional creation.
I can create art that features the style of a famous Deaf artist and explain the similarities and differences.

Frankenstein Projects:
Students work in pairs/trios to create their own “Frankenstein” using pictures from old magazines. They must label at least 5 body parts using ASL sign clip art and prepare a short signed description of their creation’s name, age, hearing status, language background, job, leisure activities and home.
Once projects are complete, groups will share with the class (present together).

Pumpkin Painting Project:
After viewing examples of artwork by famous Deaf artists (such as Nancy Rourke & Chuck Baird), students will work in pairs to paint a pumpkin in the style of one such artist. They will then present their pumpkins to the class and explain how their art relates to that Deaf artist's style and previous works.
