Learning Targets:

• I can identify and calculate the greatest common factor (GCF) of a polynomial.

• I can factor a polynomial when a = 1

Success Criteria:

• I can identify factors.

• I can multiply binomials

• I can factor a quadratic expression.

Daily 10

• Opening (I do) :  Teacher will review notes on GCF and factoring a quadratic when a = 1.  Teacher will work example problems and review GCF and multiplying polynomials.

• Work Session (we do - you do) :  Student will work to complete GCF factoring, Factoring trinomials worksheet

• Closing (we check):  Students will check work with others in class.

Differentiation:

• Scaffolding throughout lesson and applications will be provided for rigor.

Assessment Strategy:

• Teacher will use effective questioning throughout class. Students will pair-share questions solutions on given assignments. Observation throughout class will be performed by the teacher.

Summarizer:  We will discuss what we are actually finding when we factor, we are finding the points where the graph crosses the x axis.
