Mini-Dialogue Final Projects

Standards Addressed

ASL1.IP1 Students exchange simple information in the target language, utilizing cultural references where appropriate. Students will:

A. Produce gestures, handshapes, movements, facial expressions and pantomime. (e.g., marked and unmarked handshapes, emotions).

G. Give simple descriptions (e.g., introduction to size and shape specifiers, classifiers, adjectives).

H. Follow and give simple directions (e.g., use of space, far/near, left/right).

I. Ask questions and provide responses based suggested topics (e.g., yes/no and wh- questions).

ASL1.IP2 Students demonstrate skills necessary to sustain exchanges in the target language. Students will:

A. Initiate, participate in, and close a brief exchange (e.g., turn taking and dialogue).

B. Demonstrates SLPI Novice + to Survival or ASLPI Level 1 to 2 proficiency.


Learning Targets

I can demonstrate the expressive language skills and grammar I have learned this semester in ASL.

I can ask and answer questions in ASL using the grammar structures learned in class.

I can write an ASL-gloss/script for a signed conversation.

I can demonstrate correct non-manual markers in a signed conversation.

I can describe a person’s characteristics in ASL.

I can give directions in ASL.

I can give culturally appropriate greetings and farewells in ASL.

I can demonstrate comprehension of signed questions in a conversation and respond appropriately.

I can explain my hobbies, job, living situation/family, appearance of my home, and likes/dislikes in ASL.

I can maintain a conversation in ASL with confidence.


Daily Agenda:

Daily 10: Review for Final Exam on 12/16

SN Units 1-3 Review activities (glyphs, games, etc).

Mini-Dialogue Project work sessions

Beginning Thursday, 12/2, classes will go outside and begin filming their projects.
Completed projects (videos & ASL glosses) are due in Google classroom on Friday, 12/10.
