The Christmas Wish List Project

The holidays are here and Santa is on his way! Your task is to create a video letter to Old Saint Nick. First, begin by telling him whether you’ve been naughty or nice and explain why. Then, tell him what you want for Christmas. List at least five items, and give a reason for why you want each item.

Your video must be entirely in ASL and use rhetorical sentence structure for each item you discuss. Write a script in ASL gloss and have me check it for accuracy by Friday, December 3rd.

EX: DEAR SANTA,

I GOOD THIS YEAR. WHY? I NOT HIT MY SISTER.

THIS YEAR I WANT WHAT? DOG.

WHY? I ENJOY PLAY WITH, TAKE-CARE-OF.

I will be grading videos via rubric. I’ll be looking for signing accuracy and correct ASL grammar, including non-manuals (facial expressions). You’ll get extra points for being creative!

You can wear silly Christmas clothes and use props if needed. Make this a fun video that we can all enjoy watching in class.

Videos should be submitted in Google Classroom by Friday, December 10th. This project is worth one test grade.
