Standard(s): MGSE9–12.A.REI.4b Solve quadratic equations by inspection (e.g., for x2 = 49), taking square roots, factoring, completing the square, and the quadratic formula, as appropriate to the initial form of the equation (limit to real number solutions).

Learning Target: I can solve quadratics by taking the square root.

Success Criteria:

I can isolate the variable
I can take the square root of both side of the equation.
I can get two answers. (one positive one negative).

Daily 10 Warm Up

Instructional Strategies:

Opening (I do): Complete notes on solving quadratics by taking the square roots.
Work Session (We do - You do): Work session 1-12
Closing (We check): pair and share

Differentiation Strategies: Scaffolding throughout lesson and applications will be provided for rigor. Students will work with pairs at some points throughout the assignment.

Formative/Summative Assessment(s) (We check): Check solutions with partners and review any questions students may have as a class. Exit Check/Ticket.
