Mrs. Paige Browning Selected Glynn County and GA 2021-2022 Teacher of the Year

Our 2021 Glynn Academy Teacher of the Year is Mrs. Browning. Mrs. Browning has been teaching for 29 years, and has taught at four different schools; Wayne County High School, Liberty County, Frederica Academy, and now, Glynn Academy. She has her Bachelors of Arts from Agnes Scott and her Masters of Arts in English from Georgia Southern. Mrs. Browning has taught multiple different classes: AP Language, AP Literature, 9th grade Honors Lit., American Lit, Southern Lit, and Mythology. When we asked her what her favorite class she taught was, she said AP Lit.

A GA alumna, Mrs. Browning was heavily impacted by a teacher she had here junior and senior years: Ms. Mary Murphy. Browning says that after taking Murphy's class, she knew she wanted to teach. Browning feels that teaching is her calling or purpose and said, "I've never doubted that I should be here." Browning says that each year you grow and think about teaching differently than you did before, saying it's "always a work in progress." When asked what she would do if she were not a teacher, Browning said she would like to open a place for students to be able to study, have access to computers and free tutoring, and have an overall quiet place to work.
