Course Description 

This course provides a comprehensive, chronological survey of the significant conditions, challenges and accomplishments that have influenced the progress of humankind. Beginning with prehistory, students examine topics associated with the growth of early civilization, classical contributions of India, China, Greece and Rome, and the rise of medieval Europe. Other topics of study include emergence of the modern world, age of revolution, growth of industry and nationalism, world wars in the 20th century, and development of the contemporary world.

***Work Ethic Grade:

Each teacher will assign a work ethic grade for every student. The grade will be placed in the TEST category and will count no more than 10 percent of the grade. Students will start with a grade of 100 and will lose 1 point for each of the following infractions. Students will receive a work ethic grade for each class, each semester.

  • Unexcused tardy to class; Unexcused absence from class; Unprepared for class; Skipping class (Will not be able to make work up); Having no student ID or refusal to properly wear ID (Temporary sticker ID will count as an ID if worn properly)

Final Exam Exemption

You may exempt from the Final Exam (NOT THE FINAL REVIEW PROJECT) if you meet the following criteria

  • Minimum Course grade of 80%
  • No (0) discipline referrals during the semester
  • 5 or few unexcused absences for the semester. 

 

Cell Phone Policy 

Cell phones cannot be visible to teachers during class without explicit teacher permission… cell phones cannot be on student desks, in their hands or laps, etc without teacher permission. This procedure is for during class only and matches what is allowable by our student handbook.
