This course will provide students with reinforcement and support for their academic classes. The main objective is to ensure that students are keeping up with assignments, avoiding zeros, and passing all academic classes. Students will also practice for EOC assessments.

Methods of Instruction:

Direct instruction will be provided through whole group, small group, individually.

Essential Question:

The use of “Essential Questions” is a strategy designed to activate the student’s attention and focus toward the purpose of a lesson, unit, or course. These questions relate to what knowledge or skill(s) a student should obtain during the instruction. The overall Essential Question for this course is How can I better prepare myself and improve my study skills to become a better student and perform successfully in my academic classes?

Student Expectations and Responsibilities:

  1. It is very important that students report to class on time and have all necessary materials each day. This includes their textbooks, homework, make-up work, notebooks, paper, and writing utensil.
  2. Students are expected to come in to class everyday with knowing what they need to work that day. There will be no sleeping in class. If a student is sleeping they will not receive their points for the day.

  1. Students should at all times be respectful of the learning of others and should not be disruptive to others.

  1. Students are expected to participate and actively engage in work on classroom assignments, as class participation is a major part of the grade for this class.

  1. Regular attendance is vital to the learning process.  It is a student’s responsibility to make up work within the school guidelines.

  1. Students should follow all rules and classroom procedures, and show respect towards their peers andteacher at all times. Discussion of the details of classroom procedures and examples of situations will take place between teacher and students so that expectations are clear.

Infinite Campus

If both parent and student do not have an account set up on Infinite Campus, I encourage you to do so as soon as possible. This allows both of you to have access to your child’s grades in all of his/her classes. You will be able to keep track of progress and areas of academic weakness.
