Course Description

This course is designed as the second course in a three-course series. This course enhances students’ geometric, algebraic, graphical, and probabilistic reasoning skills. Students will apply their algebraic and geometric reasoning skills to make sense of problems involving geometry, trigonometry, algebra, probability, and statistics. Students will continue to enhance their analytical geometry and reasoning skills when analyzing and applying a deep understanding of polynomial expressions, proofs, constructions, rigid motions and transformations, similarity, congruence, circles, right triangle trigonometry, geometric measurement, and conditional probability.

High school course content standards are listed by big ideas including Data and Statistical Reasoning, Probabilistic Reasoning, Functional and Graphical Reasoning, Patterning and Algebraic Reasoning, and Geometry Patterning and Spatial Reasoning.

Technology:

Below is a list that will be the core resources that we will use in Geometry.

Desmos, Progress Learning, IXL, Delta Math, Google Classroom, Edlio and more

Late Assignments

Late assignments are accepted in the event of an excused absence.  Students will have 3 days to turn in from the missing day of school.  After 3 days, students will have an additional 2 days to submit the assignment but receive a 10 point late grade.  Please make every effort to check the website or Google Classroom for details of missed assignments.

Re-Takes

Students may retake tests and quizzes once for a better score.  To be able to retake a test or quiz, the student must rework the problems from the 1st test, correcting mistakes to prove their competency of the content.  The highest grade will be recorded in Infinite Campus.  It is the student’s responsibility to schedule a retake.  If the student does not take the retake at the agreed upon time then the student forfeits the right to a retake on that test..

Final Exam Exemptions

Final Exams will be given on May 22nd and 23rd.  If a student has fewer than 5 absences per semester, above an 80 in the class, and has no behavior referrals, then they will be allowed to exempt finals on the last day of school for that class in which they meet the requirements.

Classroom Rules and Expectations

  1. Be respectful at all times!
  2. Come to class on time and prepared.
  3. Do not interrupt the class.  When I am talking, it is my turn.
  4. While you are permitted to bring electronic devices to school, their use will NOT be permitted in the classroom unless otherwise noted.  This means they should not be used, heard, or seen while in my class.  You will put them in the cell phone holder at the beginning of class.
  5. No food or drinks in the classroom.  I will allow you to have water but it must be in a clear and closable container.
  6. MAKE UP WORK IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY! Please check the designated location for missed handouts, Google Classroom, Teacher Website Calendar, and with your friends and classmates for missed notes or assignments.
  7. Participate and NEVER give up!  Don’t be afraid to be wrong, share your ideas, ask questions, or challenge ideas.  We are a team and are learning together; thus, we should always encourage and support others.
