Teacher: Lori Willis

Course/Subject: Modified Algebra I

Date of Instruction: February 1-5, 2021

Units: Reasoning with Linear Equations and Inequalities-Solve Equations and Inequalities in Two Variable

Lessons: Writing and Graphing Equations in Two Variables, Writing and Solving Equations in Two Variables, Unit Test

Standards: MGSE9-12.A.CED.2- Create linear, quadratic, and exponential equations in two or more variables to represent relationships between quantities: graph equations on coordinate axes with labels and scales.

MGSE9-12.A.REI.10- Understand that the graph of an equation in two variables is the set of all its solutions plotted in the coordinate plane.

MGSE9-12.N.Q.1a- Identify, use and record appropriate units of measure within context, within data displays, and on graphs;

MGSE9-12.N.Q.1c- Use units within multi-step problems and formulas; interpret units of input and resulting units of output.

Learning Target-I will create and solve equations that involve variables on both sides.

Success Criteria- I can understand how to isolate a variable and use inverse operations to solve an equation. I can interpret vocabulary terms in order to build an equation. I can collect all variables to one side of the equation prior to solving.

Introduction/Connection: Students will review the Warm-Up, Instruction, and Summary of each lesson in the Unit. Students will complete the Guided notes that go along with each lesson. The teacher will pause each video, checking for understanding and giving example problems to help with understanding. Students will complete example problems during each section of each lesson in the unit.

Direct Instruction: Teacher will review each lesson with example problems, having students come to the board to complete each problem. Students will be given a practice worksheet with problems from each lesson being covered on the Unit Test. Students will work with a partner to complete.

Guided Practice: The teacher will go over each problem on the board for students to work out together, checking for understanding. Students will add example problems to their cheat sheet to use as examples during the test.

Independent/Collaborative Practice/Differentiation: Students will complete the Assignments and Quizzes for each lesson in Writing and Graphing Equations in Two Variables, Writing and Solving Equations in Two Variables, and the Unit Test using the cheat sheet created to help with answering questions. (Modified to follow IEPs)

Summarize/Check for Understanding: Students will complete the Unit Test for Reasoning With Linear Equations and Inequalities-Solving Equations and Inequalities in One Variable in Edgenuity. The teacher will grade each test and check answers to see where students made mistakes and reteach those parts. Students will retake the test if needed.
