Solving Equations and Inequalities
Standard(s):
MGSE9-12.A.REI.1 Using algebraic properties and the properties of real numbers, justify the steps of a simple, one-solution equation. Students should justify their own steps, or if given two or more steps of an equation, explain the progression from one step to the next using properties.
MGSE9-12.A.CED.1 Algebra 1 Standards - Solving 1-step, 2-step & Multi-step Equations
MGSE9-12.A.REI.3 Solve linear equations and inequalities in one variable including equations with coefficients represented by letters. For example, given ax + 3 = 7, solve for x.
Learning Target: I can justify my steps in solving an equation. I can solve one step and multi-step equations
Success Criteria: I can identify the variable. I can identify like terms. I can identify parts of an algebraic expression in order to form an expression. I can follow the proper steps in order to solve equations.
Daily 10 Warm Up
Instructional Strategies:
Opening (I do): Students will watch the video of the lesson on Solving equations and inequalities.
Work Session (We do-You do): Students will complete Solving Equations and Inequalities worksheet.
Closing (We check): Students will complete IXL lesson J4
Differentiation Strategies: Scaffolding throughout lesson and applications will be provided for rigor. Students will work with pairs at some points throughout the assignment.
Formative/Summative Assessment(s) (We check): go over statements as a class
Assignment:
