As a review activity, we will play each others Trade Games See Google Classroom for Google Slides with assignment and rubric Goal of the Game: You MUST include trade along the major trade routes of the period 1200-1450 C.E.: Eurasian Silk Roads, Trans-Saharan caravan routes, and the Indian Ocean sea lanes. You have the flexibility to establish the goals of the game based upon the requirement listed: 1. Is your goal to be the first to complete a round trip journey? 2. Complete the round trip with the most money? 3. Do you have to convert to a religion? The potential goals are limitless ….or nearly so Requirements: Everything in BOLD below must be included in your board game. 2.1 Silk Roads - Include in game: 1.use of paper money, 2. Samarkand, 3. banking houses, 4. caravanserai, 5. Luxury goods: (Chinese, Persian, and Afro-Eurasian artisans/merchants), iron, steel, porcelain, and textiles (silk, cotton, etc.), 6. Regional religions: ( Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, etc), 7. Regional cities: Kashgar, Beijing,, Chang’an 8. Uyghur script 2.3 Indian Ocean Routes – Include in game: Cities: Sultanate of Malacca, Swahili city states (at least one), Gujarta, Larger ships-(Treasure Ship (Baochuan), Carrack, Junk, etc) , Navigation technology: compass, astrolabe, Diasporic communities, (Chinese merchants in SE Asia/Persian, Malay communities in the Indian Ocean basin, and Arab communities in East Africa) Zheng-He voyages, monsoon winds Religious/cultural aspects cities: Baghdad, Hangzhou, Malaka Diffused items: citrus fruit, banana 2.4 Trans-Saharan Routes Include in game: 1.) Camel saddle, 2.) Caravans, 3.) causes of Growth on trade route (transportation technology), 4.) Kingdoms: Mali, Songhai, The Great Zimbabwe, 5.) African Relgions: Islam, Coptic Christianity, animism 6.) Cities: Timbuktu, Cairo Variables: These could be introduced into your game as good or bad from Topics 2.2 (Mongol Empire), 2.5 (Cultural Consequences) and 2.6 (Environmental Consequences) Include TWO in game (more is fine if you want): Mongols and/or Mongol khanates Yam system Pax Mongolia Gunpowder Paper Ibn Battuta Bananas Champa rice Citron and lemon bubonic plague 2) Make sure you have a typed-up set of rules. 3) Make sure you have all “parts” to your game (cards, dice, pieces) Zip-lock bag would be a perfect way to store these “part
