1st/2nd Honors Geometry Skinny

What
1st/2nd Honors Geometry Skinny
When
10/11/2022

Standards Addressed:
MGSE.9-12.G.GPE.5 Prove the slope criteria for parallel and perpendicular lines and use them to solve geometric problems (e.g. find the equation of a line parallel or perpendicular to a given line that passes through a given point).

Learning Targets /Success Criteria I can solve problems involving parallel and perpendicular lines.
• I can identify lines that are parallel or perpendicular.
• I can apply the properties of parallel and perpendicular lines
• I can identify the slope of a line given a graph, two points or an equation of a line.
• I can determine the slope intercept form of the equation of a line given: standard form, the slope and a point on the line, two points and a line parallel or perpendicular to the given line.

Introduction/Connection (Bellringer): Students will complete #16-18 on Practice Writing Linear Equations 1 (attached below).

Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:
--Review bellringer and homework (if necessary)
--Guide students finding the slope of a line given in Standard Form and writing equations of special case lines such as y = -1 and x = 3.
--students will complete Task Cards (attached below) in collaborative pairs

Independent Practice/Collaboration/Differentiation:
--Differentiation: Graphic organizers and foldables, one-on-one assistance for students needing help, provide more rigor for accelerated learners.
--Students will complete IXLs listed below.

Resources: IXL

Assignment: IXL lessons due date Wednesday 10/12 by 2pm
--E5 Slopes of Parallel and perpendicular lines (shortcut code: 6K2)
--E6: Equations of parallel and perpendicular lines (shortcut code: VEB)
