1st/2nd Honors Geometry Skinny

What
1st/2nd Honors Geometry Skinny
When
10/6/2022

Standards Addressed:
MGSE.9-12.G.GPE.5 Prove the slope criteria for parallel and perpendicular lines and use them to solve geometric problems (e.g. find the equation of a line parallel or perpendicular to a given line that passes through a given point).

Learning Targets /Success Criteria I can solve problems involving parallel and perpendicular lines.
• I can identify lines that are parallel or perpendicular.
• I can apply the properties of parallel and perpendicular lines
• I can identify the slope of a line given a graph, two points or an equation of a line.
• I can determine the slope intercept form of the equation of a line given: standard form, the slope and a point on the line, two points and a line parallel or perpendicular to the given line.

Introduction/Connection (Bellringer): Students will complete #4-6 and #10-12 on Practice Worksheet: Writing Linear Equations (attached below)

Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:
--Review bellringer
--Guide students in identifying parallel and perpendicular slopes by completing Parallel/Perpendicular half sheet (attached below).
--Guide students in completing Writing Parallel and Perpendicular lines foldable (attached below)

Independent Practice/Collaboration/Differentiation:
--Differentiation: Graphic organizers and foldables, one-on-one assistance for students needing help, provide more rigor for accelerated learners.
