Standards Addressed:
MGSE.9-12.G.SRT.8 Use trigonometric ratios and the Pythagorean Theorem to solve right triangles in applied problems.
Learning Targets /Success Criteria:
• I can create correct trigonometric ratios using sine, cosine and tangent.
• I can use trigonometric ratios to find missing sides in right triangles.
• I can use inverse trigonometric functions and ratios to find missing angles in a right triangle.
• I can use the Pythagorean Theorem and trigonometric ratios to solve for all side lengths of a right triangle.
Introduction/Connection (Bellringer): students will complete Algebra w/ Pizazz w/s on finding side lengths (attached below).
Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:
--Review bellringer.
--Partner practice to finish Algebra w/ Pizazz w/s (attached below)
Independent Practice/Collaboration/Differentiation:
--Differentiation: graphic organizers, foldables, partner work (if used). Acceleration of concepts for advanced students, one-on-one help for specific students.
--Collaboration: Finding missing angles using trig ratios worksheet (attached below).
--Independent Practice: students will complete Quiz covering Pythagorean Theorem, setting up/evaluating Trig Ratios and solving for sides and angles.
