Standards Addressed:
MGSE.9-12.G.CO.7 Use the definition of congruence in terms of rigid motions to show that two triangles are congruent if and only if corresponding pairs of sides and corresponding pairs of angles are congruent.
Learning Targets /Success Criteria:
--I can identify corresponding sides and corresponding angles of congruent figures.
--I can solve problems involving congruent triangles by identifying congruent parts of congruent triangles.
--I can create congruent statements based on corresponding sides and angles.
Introduction/Connection (Activator): Students will brainstorm what corresponding means with regards to triangles and quadrilaterals. Students will identify congruent parts of various quadrilaterals.
Direct Instruction/Guided Practice
--Review bellringer
--students will work in pre-selected collaborative pairs to complete Congruent Figures (attached below). Review whole group if time.
--If time, guide students in completing Congruent Figures w/s (attached: Day 2 Congruent Figures)
Independent Practice/Collaboration/Differentiation:
--Differentiation: Matching activities, peer teaching, accelerated problems for gifted/honors students, one-on-one assistance for students requiring extra help.
--Collaboration: students will work in pairs to complete Congruent Figures w/s
Resources: IXL
Assignment: STudents will complete the following IXLs (due 2pm Tuesday, 11/8):
--J1 Congruence statements and corresponding parts (CYL)
--J2 Solve problems involving corresponding parts (shortcut WYB)
