What
1st/2nd Honors Geometry Skinny
When

Standards Addressed:
MGSE.9-12.G.SRT.2. Given two figures, use the definition of similarity in term sof similarity transformations to decide if they are similar; explain, using similarity transformations, the meaning of similarity for triangles as they equality of all corresponding angles and the proportionality of all corresponding pairs of sides.
MGSE.9-12.G.SRT.3 Use the properties of similarity transformations to establish the AA criterion for two triangles to be similar.

Learning Targets/Success Criteria:
• I can identify the corresponding sides and angles of similar figures.
• I can solve problems involving similar figures by setting up and solving ratios and proportions and simplifying ratios.
• I can solve word problems involving similar figures by setting up ratios and proportions.
• I can identify the scale factor of similar figures using ratios.
• I can prove two triangles similar using triangle similarity theorems.

Introduction/Connection (Bellringer): TBA.

Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:
--introduce triangle similarity theorems with foldable (attached below)
--guide students in starting Triangle Similarity sort

Independent Practice/Collaboration/Differentiation:
--differentiation: foldables, partner work, student-led teaching, small groups instruction (if used), color-coding corresponding parts
--independent practice: students will start triangle similarity sort.

Summarizer/CFU: TOTD.

Assignment:
1) Triangle Similarity Sort
2) IXLs due TBA
--P7 Similarity Rules for triangles
--P10 Triangle Proportionality Theorem
