Standards Addressed:
MGSE.9-12.G.CO.2 Represent transformations in the plane using transparencies and geometry software; describe transformations as functions that take points in the plane as inputs and give other points as outputs. Compare transformations that preserve distance and angle to those that do not.

MGSE.9-12.G.CO.4 Develop definitions of rotations, reflections and translations in terms of angles, circles, perpendicular lines, parallel lines and line segments.

Learning Targets /Success Criteria:

1. I can find and access Mrs. Little's web site for use of lesson plans.
2. I can find and access Mrs. Little's Google Classroom for notes, resources, links, assignments, and due dates.
3. I know the Remind code for my specific class and can join Mrs. Little's Remind for daily updates.
4. I understand the best way to communicate with Mrs. Little outside of the classroom.
5. I know the rules and expectations for Mrs. Little's classroom.
6.I understand the meaning of the following terms: transformation, rigid/non-rigid transformations, pre-image/image, similar figures, congruent figures, reflection, line of reflection.

Introduction/Connection: Students will complete icebreaker: Name that Person: Pass out small pieces of paper or notecards to each student and tell them to write down two facts about themselves on the card without writing their name on them. Collect the cards in a basket and mix them up before redistributing them to the students. Students take turn reading out the facts from the note card and the other students guess which person wrote the card OR students will complete popsicle with their name on it.

Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:
1. Review icebreaker.
2. Introduce web site, Google Classroom, Remind information, and Syllabus (see attached below).
3. Critical Thinking Partner activity (attached below--if not completed on Tuesday).
4. Introduce vocabulary: transformation, rigid/non-rigid transformations, pre-image/image, similar figures, congruent figures, reflection, line of reflection using Quizlet flashcards.
