Standards Addressed:
MGSE.9-12.G.CO.2 Represent transformations in the plane using transparencies and geometry software; describe transformations as functions that take points in the plane as inputs and give other points as outputs. Compare transformations that preserve distance and angle to those that do not.

MGSE.9-12.G.CO.4 Develop definitions of rotations, reflections and translations in terms of angles, circles, perpendicular lines, parallel lines and line segments.

Learning Targets /Success Criteria:
--I can identify a reflection on the coordinate plane.
--I can write the rule for a reflection given the pre-image and image.
--I can graph a reflection on the coordinate plane given a rule.


Introduction/Connection (Activator): word splash: x axis reflection, y axis reflection, x = #, y =#, y = -x, y = x. Students will draw lines of reflections.


Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:
--student-led review of bellringer
--Review/finish any vocabulary not completed on Thursday
--Guide students in completing Reflections portion of foldable (see foldable attached below).
--Review specific reflections y=x and y=-x (if necessary) on white boards by completing specific problems on Reflections w/s.


Summarizer: Students will represent specific reflections using their arm.


Assignment: None. Student can start working on reflections w/s (due date: TBA).
