Standards Addressed MGSE.9.G.CO.9 Prove theorems about lines and angles. Theorems include: vertical angles are congruent; when a transversal crosses parallel lines, alternate interior angles are congruent and corresponding angles are congruent; points on a perpendicular bisector of a line segment are exactly those equidistance from the segment’s endpoints.
Learning Targets /Success Criteria:
--I can identify linear pairs, adjacent angles, vertical angles, complementary angles and supplementary angles and provide a definition and/or example.
--I can apply properties of linear pair relationships.
Introduction/Connection (Bellringer): students will name angle pairs by completing #1-8 on Angle Pair Relationships handout (attached below).
Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:
--review bellringer
--Guided practice using Angle Pair Relationships (handout attached below)
Independent Practice/Collaboration/Differentiation:
--Students will complete DeltaMath lesson: Special Angle Pairs
--Graphic organizers and foldables. Provide one-one-one help to students needing extra guidance provide enrichment problems for those students that understand the material quickly.
