MGSE.9-12.G.CO.12 Make formal geometric constructions with a variety of tools and methods (compass and straightedge, geometric software). Copying a segment; copying an angle; bisecting a segment; bisecting an angle; constructing perpendicular lines, including the perpendicular bisector of a line segment; and constructing a line parallel to a given line through a point not on the line.


Learning Targets /Success Criteria:
--I can solve for an angle or variable using the Angle Addition Postulate.
--I can solve problems involving angle bisectors by finding the measures of angles using algebraic equations.
--I can construct an angle bisector using a compass and straightedge.


Introduction/Connection: (Bellringer): students will complete Solving Angle Bisectors half-sheet.


Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:
--Review bellringer.
--Guided examples on angle bisectors on Angle Addition Postulate/Angle Bisector w/s (attached below)
--Start foldable notes on constructing angle bisectors (foldable attached below).
--If time, copy a line segment notes.


Independent Practice/Collaboration/Differentiation

--Students will complete selected problems on Angle Bisector Construction w/s in class (attached below).
--Differentiation: foldable notes, circulate to provide one-on-one assistance for students, provide enrichment for students as needed, use of compass, protractor, calculator.


Summarizer/CFU: Students will round robin review steps of constructing an angle bisector.
