MGSE.9-12.G.CO.10: Prove theorems about triangles. Theorems include: measures of interior angles of a triangle sum to 180 degrees, base angles of isosceles triangles are congruent, the segment joining midpoints of two sides of a triangle is parallel to the 3rd side and half the length, medians of a triangle meet at a point.
Learning Targets /Success Criteria:
--I can apply the triangle sum theorem and exterior angle theorem to solve for missing angles of a triangle.
--I can apply the properties of isosceles and equilateral triangles to find missing sides or angles of the triangle.
Introduction/Connection (Bellringer): students will complete selected problems on Triangle Sum/Exterior Angle Practice w/s #2 (attached below).
Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:
--review bellringer and h/w
--guide students in completing Isosceles and Equilateral foldable (attached below)
--guide students in completing selected problems on isosceles/equilateral triangle w/s (if time)
Independent Practice/Collaboration/Differentiation:
--Differentiation: partner/collaborative work, foldables
--Students will complete Isosceles/Equilateral w/s (attached below).
Summarizer: discuss the difference between isosceles/equilateral triangles and how we can tell the different between the two.
Assignment: TBA.
