MGSE.9-12.G.SRT.8 Use trigonometric ratios and the Pythagorean Theorem to solve right triangles in applied problems.

Learning Targets /Success Criteria:
--I can identify the hypotenuse, the opposite and the adjacent sides of a right triangle given a specified angle (theta)
--I can create correct trigonometric ratios using sine, cosine and tangent.
--I can write correct trig ratios in simplified radical form and rounded to the nearest tenth-thousandth.

Introduction/Connection (Bellringer): students will complete #1-4 on Simplifying and Rationalizing Radicals (attached below).

Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:
--review bellringer
--review h/w (Pythagorean Theorem & Triangle Proportionality w/s)
--review rationalizing radicals in the denominator
--student led discoveries of trig ratios using MathLab: Trig Ratios (page 1). Students will complete this in collaborative groups/pairs.


Independent Practice/Collaboration/Differentiation:
--Differentiation: graphic organizers/foldables, partner work (if used). Acceleration of concepts for advanced students, one-on-one help for specific students.
--independent practice: students will complete selected problems on Simplifying and Rationalizing Radicals (attached below)
