Standards Addressed
MGSE.9-12.G.CO.10: Prove theorems about triangles. Theorems include: measures of interior angles of a triangle sum to 180 degrees, base angles of isosceles triangles are congruent, the segment joining midpoints of two sides of a triangle is parallel to the 3rd side and half the length, medians of a triangle meet at a point.
Learning Targets /Success Criteria:
--I can identify linear pairs, adjacent angles, vertical angles, complementary angles and supplementary angles and provide a definition and/or example.
--I can apply properties of linear pair relationships and solve for missing variables or angles.
--I can classify triangles by their sides and angles.
--I can prove the measures of interior angles of a triangle sum to 180 degrees.
--I can use the Triangle Sum Theorem to find missing angles of a triangle.
Introduction/Connection (Activator): students will complete selected problems on Angle Pair Relationships (attached below).
Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:
--Review bellringer angle pairs
--Guide students in Angle Theorems for Triangles foldable.
--Guided practice on select problems on Triangle Sum/Exterior angle theorem w/s (attached below).
Independent Practice/Collaboration/Differentiation:
--Differentiation: Graphic organizers and foldables, partner/pairs to complete practice w/s, student led discussion of answers. Teacher will monitor students throughout lesson providing one on one help or acceleration.
--Students will work on IXLs listed below.
Summarizer/CFU: Ask students to classify various triangles by sides and angles.
Assignment:
1) Students will finish DeltaMath lesson from Friday
3) Students will complete Triangle Sum/Exterior Angle Theorem Practice
