MGSE.9-12.G.CO.10: Prove theorems about triangles. Theorems include: measures of interior angles of a triangle sum to 180 degrees, base angles of isosceles triangles are congruent, the segment joining midpoints of two sides of a triangle is parallel to the 3rd side and half the length, medians of a triangle meet at a point.

Learning Targets /Success Criteria:
--I can classify triangles by their sides and angles.
--I can prove the measures of interior angles of a triangle sum to 180 degrees.
--I can use the Triangle Sum Theorem to find missing angles of a triangle.
--I can identify exterior and interior angles.
--I can use the Exterior Angle Theorem to solve for missing variables and angles of a triangle.
--I can write an inequality to represent the possible lengths for the third side of a triangle given the other two sides.
--I can apply the Side Angle Inequality to order sides and angles of triangles from smallest to largest.
--I can apply the triangle inequality to determine if sides lengths create a triangle.

Introduction/Connection: students will complete selected problems on Triangle Sum/Exterior Angle Practice #2 (attached below)

Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:
--review bellringer and h/w (triangle angle sum/exterior angle w/s)
--quick review of classifying/naming triangles by angles and sides (using graphic organizer attached below)
--Guide students in completing Triangle Inequality Theorem foldable.

Independent Practice/Collaboration/Differentiation;
--Differentiation: Graphic organizers and foldables. Provide one-one-one help to students needing extra guidance provide enrichment problems for those students that understand the material quickly.
--Independent practice: students will complete IXLs listed below and finish Triangle Sum/Exterior Angle Practice #2 w/s

Summarizer/CFU: asked students to discuss when they use the Triangle Sum theorem and when they would use the Exterior Angle Theorem.

Assignment:
1) Finish Triangle Sum/Exterior Angle Practice #2 (attached below)
2) IXL lessons: end of class TBD
--M4 Angle Side relationships in triangles (shortcut ZN8)
--M5 Triangle Inequality Theorem (shortcut BW7)
