Standards Addressed:
G.GSR.6.3 Use trigonometric ratios and the Pythagorean Theorem to solve right triangles in applied problems.
G.GSR.6.1 Understand that by similarity, side ratios in right triangles are properties of the angles in the triangle, leading to definitions of trigonometric ratios for acute angles.
Learning Targets/Success Criteria:
--I can apply rules for 45-45-90 and 30-60-90 triangles to find missing sides or angles
Introduction/Connection (Activator): selected problems on Special Right Triangles practice (attached below).
Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:
- Review bellringer
- Students will work in collaborative pairs to complete Dragon Problem (attached below).
Independent Practice/Differentiation/Collaboration
--differentiation: Foldables, graphic organizers, color-coding like terms. Teacher will assist students one-on-one that need additional direction. Provide more complex problems for specific students.
--independent practice: Students will complete Special Right Triangles w/s below and complete IXL Q4 Special Right Triangles (shortcut LDM)
Summarizer/CFU: TOTD
Assignment: Practice 45-45-90 & 30-60-90 w/s (attached below)
