Standards Addressed:
MSGE.9-12.G.CO.11. Prove theorems about parallelograms. Theorems include: opposite sides are congruent, opposite angles are congruent, the diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other, and conversely, rectangles are parallelograms with congruent diagonals.
Learning Targets /Success Criteria:
--I can solve problems involving parallelograms.
• I can classify/identify special parallelograms as squares, rectangles and rhombus.
• I can list/identify the five properties of parallelograms.
• I can apply the properties of special parallelograms: square, rectangle, rhombus and use them to find missing side lengths or angle measures.
Introduction/Connection: Students will complete the FRONT of Parallelogram Properties ws (attached below).
Direct Instruction/Guided Practice
--Review bellringer
--guide students in finishing back of w/s
Independent Practice/Collaboration/Differentiation
--IXLs listed below
--Differentiation: Graphic organizers, discovery activity, one-on-one assistance for students needing help, provide more rigor for accelerated learners.
Resources: IXL
Assignment:
1) students will complete the following IXLs (due date TBA):
--N6 Properties of parallelograms (shortcut LLK)
--N7 Proving a quadrilateral is a parallelogram (shortcut H89)
