Standards Addressed:
MSGE.9-12.G.CO.11. Prove theorems about parallelograms. Theorems include: opposite sides are congruent, opposite angles are congruent, the diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other, and conversely, rectangles are parallelograms with congruent diagonals.
Learning Targets /Success Criteria:
--I can solve problems involving parallelograms.
• I can classify/identify special parallelograms as squares, rectangles and rhombus.
• I can list/identify the five properties of parallelograms.
• I can apply the properties of special parallelograms: square, rectangle, rhombus and use them to find missing side lengths or angle measures.
Introduction/Connection (Activator): selected problems in special parallelograms practice (attached below) or Quadrilateral Review Problems (also attached below).
Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:
--review bellringer
--in collaborative pairs, students will complete Quadrilateral Review Problems packet
Independent Practice/Collaboration/Differentiation:
--Foldables, one on one assistance for struggling students, accelerated practice for higher performing students.
--Collaborative practice: Quadrilateral Review Problems packet
--Students will finish IXLs listed below
Resources: IXL
Assignment:
1) Quiz on all of parallelograms
2) The following IXLs--due date TBA
--N8 Properties of Rhombuses (QVX)
--N9 Properties of Squares and rectangles (R9M)
