Standards Addressed:
MGSE.9-12.G.CO.10. Prove theorems about triangles. Theorems include: measures of interior angles of a triangle sum to 180 degrees, base angles of isosceles triangles are congruent; the segment joining midpoints of two sides of a triangle is parallel to the third side and half the length; the medians of a triangle meet at a point.
Learning Targets /Success Criteria:
--I can identify a median or midsegment of a triangle.
--I can apply the median and midsegment theorems.
--I can solve problems involving medians and midsegments of triangles.
Introduction/Connection (Activator): Selected problems on Quadrilaterals Review (from Friday)
Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:
--review bellringer
--guide students in completing midsegment foldable (attached below).
--guide students in notes on medians
--guide students in completing various problems on Midsegments and Medians w/s attached below.
Independent Practice/Collaboration/Differentiation:
--Foldables, paper-folding activities for discovery, one on one assistance for struggling students, accelerated practice for higher performing students.
--Select problems on Medians/Midsegments w/s (attached below)
Summarizer/CFU: students will describe differences between medians and midsegments.
Assignment: TBD.
