Standards Addressed:
MGSE.9-12.G.SRT.2. Given two figures, use the definition of similarity in terms of similarity transformations to decide if they are similar; explain, using similarity transformations, the meaning of similarity for triangles as they equality of all corresponding angles and the proportionality of all corresponding pairs of sides.

MGSE.9-12.G.SRT.3 Use the properties of similarity transformations to establish the AA criterion for two triangles to be similar.

Learning Targets /Success Criteria:
• I can solve problems involving similar figures by setting up and simplifying ratios and solving proportions.
• I can solve word problems involving similar figures by setting up ratios and proportions.
• I can identify the scale factor of similar figures using ratios.
• I can prove two triangles similar using triangle similarity theorems.

Introduction/Connection (Bellringer): Students will complete selected problems on Similar Polygons Color By Number (attached below).

Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:
--Review bellringer
--Guide students in completing triangle similarity sort (attached below)

Independent Practice/Collaboration/Differentiation:
--Differentiation:Foldable, card sort, one-on-one assistance for struggling students, accelerated problems for more advanced students.
--Independent practice: students will completing triangle similarity card sort (attached below).

Resources: IXL

Summarizer/CFU: student will explain each similarity theorem.

Assignment:
