Standard:
MGSE.9-12.G.GPE.4 Use coordinates to prove simple geometric theorems algebraically (for example, prove or disprove that a point lies on the circle centered at the origin and containing another point).

Learning Target/Success Criteria:
-- I can use the standard form of the equation of a circle to prove that a given point falls on, in or outside a circle.
--I can prove that a point falls on, in, or outside a circle given the equation of the circle or given the center and a point on the circle.

Introduction/Connection: Open Middle problem.

Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:
--review h/w (endpoints of diameter)--1.2, 2nd block (both)
--guide students in guided notes on pg. 8 of Notes practice equations of circles below (proving if a point lies on, in, or outside a circle).


Independent Practice/Collaboration/Differentiation:
--differentiation: cloze notes, graphic organizers, foldables (if used), partner work (if used), accelerate/challenge problems for certain learners, additional/guided one on one support for struggling learners
--independance practice: students will complete pg. 9 of Notes practice equations of circles
