Success Criteria:
I know how to activate prior knowledge, use context clues, make assumptions, take chances, to understand spoken French.



DIRECT INSTRUCTION/WORK SESSION:

We will listen to a lecture about the author of Le Petit Prince and will attempt to take notes/learn the following facts:
- his background (family type, birthplace + childhood locale)
- his education/upbringing
- his career - early to end
- his place in history
- reasons to read the book

We'll check your understanding with a listening quiz.

We'll do a quick review of Le Passe Simple - what is it? Who uses it? Can you recognize it? Can you take a sentence out of it to use it? - we will need all of these skills for our upcoming novel.

Intro: Le Petit Prince - skim through, what do you see? Who do you think made the drawings - are they elaborate, simple? I will provide you with a novel dictionary as well. Skim through it. If we have time we will listen to chapter 1 - here is a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvRIccSAHEw



Homework -
TedTalk - please present me 3 facts you learn from the video - this can be in English but should be at least 2 sentences each - due Wednesday
