MGSE9-12.F.IF.7 & 9 Algebra 1 Standards  Comparing linear, quadratic & exponential tables.

Learning Target:

I will identify a linear, quadratic and exponential function given a tables, graphs, equations and situations. 

Success Criteria:

·         I can identify linear (straight line), quadratic (parabola) and exponential (curved line) functions given a graph.

·         I can identify linear (common first difference), quadratic (common second difference) and exponential (multiplication pattern) functions given a table.

I can identify linear (no exponents), quadratic (exponent of 2) and exponential (exponent of x) functions given an equation.

Introduction/Connection: Daily 10 

Direct Instruction: Complete Notes on Comparing Functions

Guided Practice: As a class, we will complete a couple examples in our notes together on different functions using graphs, equations, tables and situations.      

Independent/Collaborative practice/differentiation: Students will sort out and identify the differences in linear, quadratic and exponential functions on their worksheet.  

Summarize/Check for Understanding: The teacher will observe and question students on a need-to-need basis on the work given. Teacher will individually conference if needed with student to check his/her work.
