Standards Addressed:
MGSE.9-12.G.SRT.8 Use trigonometric ratios and the Pythagorean Theorem to solve right triangles in applied problems.
MGSE.9-12.G.SRT.6 Understand that by similarity, side ratios in right triangles are properties of the angles in the triangle, leading to definitions of trigonometric ratios for acute angles.

Learning Targets /Success Criteria:
--I can solve problems involving right triangles using the Pythagorean Theorem.
--I can use the converse of the Pythagorean Theorem to prove that a triangle is a right triangle
--I can use the Pythagorean Theorem to find missing sides of triangles.
--I can create correct trigonometric ratios using sine, cosine and tangent.
--I can use trigonometric ratios to find missing sides in right triangles.

Introduction/Connection (Activator): students will complete Pythagorean Theorem discovery activity in collaborative pairs (attached below)

Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:
--review bellringer
--Guide students in completing Pythagorean Theorem foldable
--guide students in creating trig ratios using Creating Trig Ratios graphic organizer (attached below)
--Guided practice on Trig Ratios Notes & Trig Ratios Guided practice (both attached below)

Independent Practice/Collaboration/Differentiation:
--Differentiation: Graphic organizers, online practice, partner work. Acceleration of concepts for advanced students, one-on-one help for specific students.
--Collaboration: Pythagorean Theorem discovery activity (attached below)
--Independent Practice: Pythagorean Theorem & Converse w/s

Summarizer: TOTD
