Standards Addressed MGSE.9-12.G.C.2 Identify and describe relationships among inscribed angles, radii, chords, tangents, and secants. Include the relationship between central, inscribed, and circumscribed angles; inscribed angles on a diameter are right angles; the radius of a circle is perpendicular to the tangent where the radius intersects the circle.

Learning Targets /Success Criteria (Review):
--I can identify and describe parts of a circle including: circumference, radius, diameter, chord, secant, and tangent.
--I can identify a tangent line and solve problems involving tangent lines.
--I can identify/name a central angle and identify/name its intercepted arc.
--I can identify the intercepted arc for an inscribed angle.
--I can find measures of inscribed angles and their intercepted arcs in a circle.
--I know that the measure of an inscribed angle is half the measure of its intercepted arc.
--I know that the intercepted arc of an inscribed angle is twice the measure of the inscribed angle.
--I can use the fact that a circle is 360 degrees and semicircles are 180 degrees to find missing arcs and angles involving inscribed angles.
--I can find measures of missing central angles or arcs in a circle.

LT (NEW): I can find missing angles and arcs involving tangents, chords and secants of circles:
--I can apply the appropriate theorem based on the relationship of given segments including:
--Tangent-secant (angle on the circle)
--Secant-secant (angle outside of the circle)
--Chord-chord (angle inside the circle)

Introduction/Connection (Bellringer): students will complete selected problems on Tangent/Secant Lines in Circles Color by Number (attached below).

Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:
--review bellringer
--Review h/w (angles formed by secants/tangents--attached below

--guide students in notes on circle graphic organizer (attached below).

Independent Practice/Collaboration/Differentiation:
--differentiation: Graphic organizers with cloze notes, foldables, color coding lines/segments, one-on-one assistance for struggling students, accelerated practice for higher performing students, partner work, student-led teaching/review.
--Independent practice: students will complete Angles Formed by SecantsTangentsChords Practice 2 (attached below).
