Learning Target: I know that I have learned it when I can:
I can say hello and present myself in French to various people.
I can say Good-bye.
I can ask someone their name and tell them mine.
Success Criteria:
I know vocabulary needed.
I know what sounds letters make in French.
There will be a Substitute today.
DIRECT INSTRUCTION:
Here are the directions that I left for the Sub:
1. Complete the “writing activities”
worksheet – both sides! Some of the exercises they can guess and others they
can use their notes.
2. The next worksheet is about “Cognates”.
I would love it if you’d read the top with them. We started talking about them
yesterday in class. A “Cognate” is a word that is super similar in 2 languages.
Since there are so many cognates, English speakers already know so much French.
The front side of the sheet asks students to guess the meaning of a bunch of
French words and sentences. Once they have completed it, look over the back
together.
The back asks them to watch a movie and try to listen
for more of these cognates. The movie
(Despicable Me 2) is already loaded in the computer. Please be sure to
put the audio in to French (Boston can help if you need it) and
put the subtitles on in English.
Students will then try to hear and write down 10 words.
ex. bonjour = hello
