Teacher : Robert Smith Course/ Subject: Art Comp / Intro Art Date of Instruction: 08/08/23 Opening (I Do) An engaging process for lesson introduction that is specifically planned to encourage equitable and purposeful student participation. Describe the instructional process that will be used to introduce the lesson. TKES 1, 2, 3,4,5, 8,10 Standard/s: VAHSVA.CR.1 Visualize and generate ideas for creating works of art. a. Generate and conceptualize artistic ideas and work. b. Consider multiple options, weighing consequences, and assessing results. c. Practice the artistic process by researching, brainstorming, and planning to create works of art. Learning Target: I can generate artistic ideas and works through the process of conceptualization I can consider multiple options, weigh consequences and assess the results of each decision I can practice the artistic process through brainstorming and planning to create art Success Criteria: I visualized and generated ideas for works of art through a creativity exercise I considered multiple options, weight consequences and assessed the results of my creative options I can practice the artistic process Introduction/Connection: Review the following terms Creativity - the use of the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work.: "firms are keen to encourage creativity" Conceptualize - form a concept or idea of (something) Visualization - the formation of a mental image of something. DIRECT INSTRUCTION: The teacher will interpret the Syllabus for Art Comp. The discussion will include the following topics: Course Description Rules and Consequences Classroom Procedures Art Materials Grading & Rubrics Course Overview The Creative Process and the Art in Society Creative Exercises The Teacher will demonstrate examples of the creative process and creativity in the visual arts (See the video link on the calendar for an overview of the lesson) Work Period (We Do, You Do) Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations. Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period. TKES 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7. 8,10 GUIDED PRACTICE: Creativity Exercises Students will complete the incomplete figures exercise Students will complete the doodle / phrase exercise (See the attachment) INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION: Creativity Exercise Students will create a doodle with their non-dominant hand through visualization Closing (We Check) Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding . TKES : 1,2,3, 4,5,6,7,8 SUMMARIZE/CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING: Complete the creativity exercises and place names and class period on the back.
