Lesson 7: Cardinal Numbers 20-29

Homework: ASL 1 Students- Practice Your Language Background script and be ready to present this week. Worth 1 Expressive quiz grade!

ASL1.INT2 Students will comprehend signed and non-manual markers to understand simple messages in the target language.Students will:

A. Differentiate among statements, questions, and commands (e.g., yes/no, WH, rhetorical questions, commands).

ASL1.IP1 Students exchange simple information in the target language, utilizing cultural references where appropriate. Students will: Ask questions and provide responses based suggested topics (e.g., yes/no and wh- questions).

I can sign and comprehend numbers 1-29 in context.

I know I’ve got it when I can recognize numbers 1-29 in conversations and answer given subtraction problems using correct responses. 

Daily 10

Introduction- Numbers 20-29

Whole class practice- Circle Up & Count: stand and form a circle and count from 1-29, with each person responding with the next number in sequence. Count backwards, even numbers, and odd numbers. Students must pay close attention so they’ll know which number is theirs once it’s their turn.

DVD modeling- Correct hand formation- Iva shows how to form 20-29.

DVD guided practice- Count with Joey (20-29).

DVD independent practice- Circle the Number & Write the Number. Check answers in class.

Intro- Subtraction problems using 1-29. Teacher asks students subtraction problems and students offer signed responses. 

 

Toss It Game- Students take turns throwing ball to each other. Give a number and classmate catching ball must sign the next three numbers in sequence (either forward or backward). Ex: I throw to John and sign 20. John signs 21, 22, and 23.
