Read Le Petit Prince beyond the plot

Success Criteria:
I can identify humor in a reading.
I can work through the author's intent.
I can recognize tone.

Introduction: Let's review humor, intent and tone in English - why are they used? what do we 'get' from their use?

DIRECT INSTRUCTION/WORK SESSION:

We'll warm-up our vocab for ch 9.
We'll read the chapter quietly and will try to answer simple, factual questions first.
We'll then work with a partner to dig more deeply - looking for Saint Ex's intent, humor and tone

We'll reflect on tone in previous chapters.

We'll set the stage for the 'planet chapters' - 2 students will share a planet and will dive deeply into it's plot, message, intent,e tc.
