Standard: Chain Rule Derivatives
Learning Target: I can find the derivative of composite functions using the chain rule.
Success Criteria: I can recognize composite functions. I can assign a substitute for a complicated part of a function to make it easier to take the derivative of.
Introduction/Connection: We have talked about simple functions so far - let's compare what is "simple" compared to what is a composite function
Direct Instruction: Notes on the chain rule
Guided Practice:Teacher lead examples
Independent/Collaborative Practice/Differentiation: Pair Share with partner of different ability/scaffolding; I will informally assess the students by moving around the room checking for understanding and answering questions.
Summarize/Check for Understanding: How does a function cease to be differentiable?
Assignment: Day One: Pg 175-7 #11-71 eoo
Day Two: WS
Day Three: Finish up work
