Course Name: Modified Biology

Monday

Standard(s): 4b. Analyze and interpret data to develop models (i.e., cladograms and phylogenetic trees) based on patterns of common ancestry and the theory of evolution to determine relationships among major groups of organisms.

LT:  I can read a cladogram/phylogenetic tree.

SC:

-I can put organisms in the correct order on a cladogram/phylogenetic tree from the oldest to the most recent

 Ancestor.

-I can determine which traits (derived characteristics) an organism has based on a cladogram.

Lesson/Activity:

-Kingdoms Review Game-Mini Quiz Tuesday

-Candy Cladogram activity

-Reading and Interpreting Cladograms notes

-Work on Create a Life Project

-Quiz 1 retakes, as needed

Resources:

Teacher created materials, Kahoot

Tuesday

Standard(s):4b. Analyze and interpret data to develop models (i.e., cladograms and phylogenetic trees) based on patterns of common ancestry and the theory of evolution to determine relationships among major groups of organisms.

LT: I can name and describe the 6 Kingdoms (Archaebacteria, Eubacteria, Protista, Fungi, Plants, Animals)

 I can read a cladogram/phylogenetic tree.

SC:

-I can list the 6 kingdoms of life.

-I can give an example of each of the 6 kingdoms.

-I can read a cladogram/phylogenetic tree.

Wednesday

Standard(s): 1a. Construct an explanation of how cell structures and organelles (including nucleus, cytoplasm, cell membrane, cell wall, chloroplasts, lysosome, Golgi, endoplasmic reticulum, vacuoles, ribosomes, and mitochondria) interact as a system to maintain homeostasis.

LT: I can describe the parts of a prokaryotic cell.

SC:

-I can describe the difference between a prokaryotic cell and eukaryotic cell

-I can list the parts of a bacteria cell (prokaryotic)

-I know that life on Earth has gone from simple (prokaryotic) to complex (eukaryotic)

Lesson/Activity:

-Mini Quiz (6 Kingdoms, Classification, Cladograms) and Review

-Review prokaryotes vs. eukaryotes

-Intro Endosymbiotic Theory (EdPuzzle)
