ASL 2
Georgia Performance Standards (GPS)
ASL2.IP1 Students exchange information in the target language, utilizing cultural references where appropriate.
Students will:
A. Express needs and preferences (e.g., compare/contrast).
F. Ask questions and provide responses based on topics such as self, others, and immediate environment.

ASL2.IP2 Students demonstrate skills necessary to initiate, sustain and close exchanges in the target language.
Students will:
A. Initiate, participate in, and close an exchange.

ASL2.INT1 Students understand information on new and familiar topics presented in the target language through a variety of media including authentic narratives and materials. Students will:
A. Identify main ideas and essential details while viewing an ASL signed narrative.

I can self assess my knowledge of the signs and ASL structures from Signing Naturally Unit 4.
I will rate my understanding of each objective listed below:
  1. I am able to ask someone if they are married and then ask other personal questions about family.
  2. I can ask someone if they have siblings, who is the oldest, and ask about similarities and differences between siblings.
  3. I can read and sign cardinal numbers 1-100.
  4. I know how to indicate one’s rank among siblings when discussing ages.
  5. I can read and sign age numbers.
  6. I know how to use possessive adjectives (his/hers/yours/mine, etc) to tell or ask about people’s relationships.
  7. I know how to give two different negative responses (NOT and NONE).
  8. I know how to make a negative statement, correct information or do both.
  9. I can make negative statements and ask follow up questions.
  10. I know how to ask someone yes-no questions regarding relatives and whether the relatives are still living or deceased.
  11. I know how to use different strategies to get my meaning across when I don’t know a sign for it.
  12. I know how to make complimentary comments to people about their families.
  13. I know how to maintain a clear sightline at all times, both as a signer and listener.
  14. I know all of the sign vocabulary used in this unit.
