Introduction/Connection: Test reviews - the good/bad/ugly

Direct Instruction:

We'll read a short story - we'll preview some vocab words and discuss the cultural concept of "bureaucracy". Then we'll preview the story itself- what assumptions/predictions can/should we make.

Students will read independently and then as a whole for page 1.
Students will read independently and then review in a small group for page 2.

We'll act out page 2 -

Students will predict what is going to happen.

We'll have another 10 minute in class story write. What happened next? Aim for 5 more sentences today.

Let's learn: The PQP - what is it??? We'll learn the rules and try to use it.
