Standard Addressed: Finding limits with and without technology

Learning Targets: I understand the concept of a limit; I  can find a limit with a calculator

Introduction/ConnectionPut a function on the board and the ask the students to evaluate. The catch is you CANNOT. Look at the function graphically, and determine it in fact does have a value, sort of...what is going on LIMITS!

Direct Instruction: Daily 10; Direct Instruction on using the calculator to evaluate limits

Guided Practice: We will work some of assigned problems on the board as needed during their pair/individual work. 

Independent/Collaborative Practice/Differentiation: Students will help each other with the concept of finding a limit. Scaffolding throughout lesson. Rigor: Some students will choose to complete additional more difficult problems some involving real world application. Students will pair share their solutions and questions on the assignment. Teacher observes.
