Daily Agenda:
Standard Addressed: Finding limits with and without technology
Learning Targets: I can evaluate limits algebraically
Success Criteria: I can factor a polynomial. I can get a common denominator. I can expand polynomials. I can find and use a conjugate. I can rationalize a denominator.
Introduction/Connection: Put a function on the board and the ask the students to evaluate. The catch is you CANNOT. Look at the function graphically, and determine it in fact does have a value, sort of...what is going on LIMITS!
Direct Instruction: Daily 10; Go over any questions from the homework; Guided notes on Limit Laws w/ graphic organizer. Algebraic manipulations on the back.Begin pairs work on Algebraic Manipulations WS to evaluate limits.
Guided Practice: We will work some of assigned problems on the board as needed during their pair/individual work.
Independent/Collaborative Practice/Differentiation: Students will help each other with the concept of finding a limit. Scaffolding throughout lesson. Rigor: More difficult problems at the end of the lesson. Students will pair share their solutions and questions on the assignment. Teacher observes.
Summarizer/Check for Understanding: What are the 4 ways to algebraically manipulate a limit to solve?
Assignment: Pg 80 #1-21 odd, 26-30; Pg 94-95 #5,7,9,10,13,14,15,17,19,21,39,49,51
