MLIV.CCC3B: Compare linguistic elements of the target language and English, such as the different
structures used to express time, tense, and mood
Learning Target: I know that I have learned it when I can:
I can understand how the author uses the tense of a verb to tell his story.
Success Criteria:
I can identify the 11 verbs tenses by looking at their stems and endings.
I understand what is told by each seperate tense.
INTRODUCTION- 1 verb 11 tenses - shall we try again??? Let's flex our strengths and admit our areas of weakness (I promise to remediate throughout the semester any of our weaknesses)
DIRECT INSTRUCTION/WORK SESSION:
Chapter 3 was short but important. Let's revisit "le cadre", "l'etat d'esprit" and "le point de vue"
We'll finish our verb analysis - creating a time frame for the current, past and future events. Pointing out again just how crucial understanding your tenses is in French - we'll discuss how writers do the same in English.
We'll use written prompts to sum up what we have learned from chapters 1-3. We'll both write and discuss in French.
We'll prep for chapter 4 - vocabulaire and concepts- "Ne jugez pas un livre a sa couverture" - we'll discuss when/how this has happened to us
