High School Weekly Lesson Plan Template Week of: 3/3/25 *for additional curriculum information, please visit the district's resource High School Pacing Guides or Georgia Standards of Excellence Course Name: Modified Physical Science Monday Standards: SPS6. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to explain the properties of solutions. Develop and use models to explain the properties (solute/solvent, conductivity, and concentration) of solutions. Learning Targets: SPS6a: We are learning to develop and use models to explain the properties of solutions. Success Criteria: I will know I am successful when I can . . . Define solute, solvent, conductivity, and concentrations Relate amount of solute and solvent to concentration Measure and compare the conductivity of solutions Relate concentration of solutions to conductivity Use a model explain the properties of solutions Lesson/Activity: -Daily 10 -Solutions/Mixtures Coloring Review Sheet -Preview Acids and Bases Vocabulary Resources: Teacher Created Materials, Flocabulary Tuesday SPS6. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to explain the properties of solutions. Develop and use models to explain the properties (solute/solvent, conductivity, and concentration) of solutions. Plan and carry out investigations to determine how temperature, surface area, and agitation affect the rate solutes dissolve in a specific solvent. Analyze and interpret data from a solubility curve to determine the effect of temperature on solubility. Obtain and communicate information to explain the relationship between the structure and properties (e.g., pH, and color change in the presence of an indicator) of acids and bases. (Clarification statement: Limited to only the structure of simple acids and bases (e.g., HCl and NaOH) that demonstrates the presence of an H+ or OH-. Plan and carry out investigations to detect patterns in order to classify common household substances as acidic, basic, or neutral. SP6d: We are learning to explain the relationship between the structure and properties of acids and bases. Success Criteria: I will know I am successful when I can . . . Identify acids and bases based on their formulas, i.e. hydrogen ions (H+) and hydroxide ions (OH-) Identify the properties of acids and bases Define pH and explain the range of the pH scale in terms of acids and bases Determine the acidity of a substance based on its pH (using indicators) Lesson/Activity: -Daily 10 Questions -Notes: Acids and Bases -Color pH scale -pH scale practice WS -Acid or Base Litmus Paper Test (video) Resources: Teacher Created Materials, Peardeck, Edpuzzle Wednesday SP6e: We are learning to classify common household substances as acidic, basic, or neutral. Success Criteria: I will know I am successful when I can . . . Use pH indicators to identify common household substances as either acids or bases. Compare and contrast the physical and chemical properties of acids and bases Differentiate between strong and/or weak acids and bases Lesson/Activity: -Daily 10 Questions -Edpuzzle: Acid Rain and review acids and bases from yesterday -Acids and Bases X charts in groups -Unit 4 Review games (quiz Friday) -Begin Unit 4 Study Guide/Practice Quiz Resources: Teacher Created Materials, Kahoot, Edpuzzle Thursday SP6e: We are learning to classify common household substances as acidic, basic, or neutral. Success Criteria: I will know I am successful when I can . . . Use pH indicators to identify common household substances as either acids or bases. Compare and contrast the physical and chemical properties of acids and bases Differentiate between strong and/or weak acids and bases Identify the common properties of each type of substance to create a general guideline to determining the acidity or basicity of common household materials. Lesson/Activity: -Daily 10 Questions -Acids and Bases T-chart -Partner Practice Quiz -Finish and Review Unit 4 Study Guide -Unit 4 Review Games (Quiz Tomorrow); whiteboards Resources: Teacher Created Materials Friday SP6e: ALL Unit 4 Success Criteria: ALL UNIT 4 Lesson/Activity: -Daily 10 Questions -Unit 4 Quiz (Solutions, Acids and Bases) -Preview Unit 5 Vocabulary Resources: Teacher Created Materials
