FBLA National Leadership Conference

For the first time in 16 years, Glynn Academy students qualified to represent the state of Georgia at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference in Chicago, IL, and brought home some national bling. Glynn Academy FBLA has seen tremendous growth with a record number of active members and competitors this year. Eight members of the newly active chapter competed in Chicago, with the team of Olivia Jarrell, Jalen Mays, and Sara Jane Veal placing fourth out of 91 teams in the Local Chapter Annual Business Report. Olivia Jarrell was one of only twenty students nationally to receive the Capstone Award, the highest level of the Business Achievement Award program. During the conference on June 28-July 2, members competed, attended workshops, networked, and attained skills in leadership development and teamwork.

Other National competitors were Lexi Veal and Chelsea Yates in Broadcast Journalism, Katie Hickson, Sara Jane Veal, Abigail Winford in Introduction to Social Media Strategies, and Anthony Tortorete in open networking events. The students visited many local sites of the Windy City, including Cloud Gate, the Navy Pier, the Willis Tower SkyDeck, the Shedd Aquarium, Museum of Science and Industry, and they attended the Cubs vs. Red game at historic Wrigley Field.

Glynn Academy FBLA appreciates all of the support given by family, friends, and local business sponsors to our National qualifiers as they represent our chapter, school, and the community at the highest level of competition. https://youtu.be/P3EtgRiqe00
